Ballerina* is an upcoming American action thriller film directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten. It is the first spin-off of the John Wick franchise, and is set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023). The film stars Ana de Armas as Rooney, a ballerina-turned-assassin seeking revenge for the murder of her family. The film also features Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves. It is scheduled to be released on June 7, 2024. The film’s plot follows Rooney, a young ballerina who witnesses the brutal murder of her family by masked assassins. She vows revenge and seeks out the ruthless Director (Huston), the head of the ballet school that trained her and also serves as a front for a powerful assassin organization. Rooney undergoes a grueling training regime under the tutelage of a mysterious killer known as the Cleaner (Byrne). As she hones her skills, Rooney embarks on a deadly mission to hunt down the men who killed her family, leading her into the dark underbelly of the assassin world.
