Did Kidz Bop cover Drake diss tunes by Kendrick Lamar? A viral TikTok raises queries

Kidz Bop is said to have covered Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria,” a diss tune directed at Drake, in a widely shared TikTok video. But is this true? Here is what we currently know.

Since April 2024, rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been trading trash recordings back and forth. Songs including “Euphoria,” “Meet the Grahams,” and “Family Matters” have become internet hits.

With his song “BBL Drizzy,” hip-hop producer Metro Boomin entered the mix and invited rappers to freestyle over the beat in an attempt to win a bespoke beat from the celebrity. Rappers on TikTok soon took notice of the song, and it also started a craze on the platform.

Kidz Bop, a group that covers popular songs for younger audiences, has recently been included in the conversation after a TikTok video purporting to show them covering Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” went viral.

The video posted by TikToker Angelica Trae has received thousands of comments and around 5 million views. She plays the song on a YouTube video that she displays in the film, appearing to be from the official Kidz Bop account.

It has phrases like “Dear mommy, I want my crust cut, mac and cheese, and salami,” and “I love the way that you walk, the way that you talk.”

Many people watched the video and were persuaded that the song was artificial intelligence (AI) produced.

I have verified that the video was not posted to the official Kidz Bop channel after scouring the depths of YouTube. The group’s most recent upload, from May 10, 2024, featured the present-day members of the group reacting to one of their older music videos.

I searched the site and couldn’t find the movie that Angelica was seeing in her video, but it’s quite likely that artificial intelligence made it.

Many viewers expressed their opinions in the comments section, noting that some of the lyric modifications had impressed them.
