Fans were shocked after learning the terrible amount of money to get the jersey that Kobe Bryant once wore

Kobe Bryant’s legendary torn Achilles jersey with the Los Angeles Lakers is expected to fetch a crazy amount in auction.

Every Purple and Gold fan knows about the Achilles jersey. Back in the 2012-13 NBA season during a showdown with the Golden State Warriors, Kobe tore his Achilles on a non-contact play.

Instead of walking out or letting himself be carried or wheelchaired to the locker room, Bryant showed his Mamba Mentality as he proceeded to take the free throws and drained both attempts before exiting.

Kobe’s free throws tied the game for the Lakers at 109 before he left, walking on his own power. LA won the contest 118-116, with Bryant’s actions only adding to his legend.

Now, the jersey he wore during that game is up for auction at Goldin. At the time of writing, it has a bid of $1 million. However, the price is expected to go higher during the final seconds of the bidding considering the importance of the jersey.

Bryant memorabilia has been selling like hotcakes as well, especially after the Lakers icon tragically passed away in 2020.

Ken Goldin, founder and CEO of Goldin Auctions, told me that the jersey is projected to go over the $3 million mark.

“We expected the jersey to sell for between $3-5 million,” Goldin shared.

Discussing the importance of the jersey, Goldin added: “This jersey captures a moment in time that was one of the most impactful on Kobe’s career. In that moment, as he experienced his worst career injury, he showed the true ‘mamba mentality’ and went to the free-throw line to sink two free throws before leaving the game.”
