LOGAN 2 Teaser (2024) With Hugh Jackman & Patrick Stewart

Wolverine and Doctor Strange team up in a brilliant fan-made trailer for a sequel to 2017’s Logan. Hugh Jackman debuted as James “Logan” Howlett in 2000’s X-Men, the first project in Fox’s X-Men Universe, but is set to make his debut in the MCU proper in 2024’s Deadpool 3 alongside fellow Fox alum Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool. Despite Hugh Jackman’s return to the iconic role that put him on the map, a new actor is expected to be cast as the MCU’s Wolverine, though it’s possible that Jackman could return as his multiversal mutant in future MCU projects.

Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 despite retiring from the role following the 2017 release of Logan, the third project in his solo trilogy in Fox’s X-Men Universe. Logan, produced as a standalone project, was a huge success for 20th Century Fox, yet there were never plans for a sequel. Nevertheless, a potential follow-up to Jackman’s 2017 adventure has now been imagined in a fan-made trailer shared by KH Studio. The trailer sees Jackman’s Wolverine team up with the MCU’s Doctor Strange on a multiverse-spanning mission to track down Dafne Keen’s Laura, a.k.a. X-23, Logan’s biological daughter.

The MCU Needs Wolverine More Than The X-Men

Marvel Studios is progressing with an X-Men movie, but with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returning in Deadpool 3, the MCU shouldn’t repeat history.

Why Logan 2 Will Never Actually Happen

Set in 2029, Logan marked the end of the line for both Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, as the film featured both of their deaths, while it introduced Dafne Keen as a new young mutant, providing hope for the future. Both Stewart and Jackman noted that they were retiring from their roles after Logan, though both have since returned in the MCU. Deadpool 3’s cast and crew have promised that the upcoming Phase 5 project won’t retcon the events of Logan, however, suggesting that the film will take place before Logan in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men timeline.

The fact that both Wolverine and Professor X lost their lives in Logan means it would be difficult to produce a direct sequel. Of course, X-23 could become the focus, but her future is unclear following Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Logan is regarded to be a near-perfect gem in Fox’s X-Men Universe, so it would perhaps be best not to mess with its storyline, and simply just to leave it alone. Jackman and Stewart both have the potential to return in future MCU projects, but these would either be as multiversal variants or set prior to the events of Logan.
