Russell Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Steelers one month ago, delivered an impressive first pitch before the Pirates-Red Sox game in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson showed his ability on both sides of the ballpark when he visited PNC Park to throw the first pitch on Friday.

Before the Pirates’ game against the Boston Red Sox at home, the former Super Bowl champion had the honor of throwing the ceremonial pitch in his new city.

Wilson wore a black Pirates jersey as he took the mound. He then showed how his quarterback accuracy translates to baseball with a swift and on-target pitch.

Additionally, Wilson showed his prowess in the batter’s box.

A clip posted by MLB shows the Steelers’ new facilitator at bat. Wilson shows off his swing, crushing several balls out onto the field.

Wilson arrived in Pittsburgh after his four-year deal with the Denver Broncos got cut short halfway through following two lackluster seasons. After being informed that he would get cut in free agency, the Broncos gave Wilson the green light to talk to other teams in advance.

Before landing with the Steelers, Wilson reportedly took meetings with the Raiders and Giants.

Besides Wilson, the Steelers also acquired rising star Justin Fields from Chicago.

With a veteran and an up-and-coming quarterback on his roster, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin previously revealed that the 2014 Super Bowl winner is in pole position to start. On the other hand, Fields will get minutes but will primarily serve as an understudy to his senior.

After meeting with the Raiders and Giants, Wilson signed a one-year deal to be in Steel City

‘Russell has those resources, man, that structure, and so that’s why I say he has pole position, man,’ Tomlin said in March. ‘It just creates a synergy that I think is good for this time of year.’

‘When it’s time to compete, we get in training camp-like settings and go to preseason stadiums and so forth, obviously Justin will be given an opportunity that shows his capabilities.’

Wilson and Fields will fan the flame for a Steelers team that finished last season with a 10-7 record and third place in the AFC North.
