Everyone wants a love like his. Zayn Malik‘s girlfriends have been central to most of his journey as a songwriter…and gossip blogs. Fans are all wondering who the former One Direction is dating…and boy do we have news for you.
In anticipation for his album Room Under The Stairs, Malik talked about his love life on The Zach Sang Show. “I don’t know if I’ve actually truly been in love at this point,” he said. “I think love comes in many different forms. In love with somebody is a whole different kind of complicated…there’s many different variables that go into it.”
Though he hasn’t been in love, he has been in a couple of high profile relationships. Here’s a breakdown of them.
Who is Zayn Malik dating?
Good news for us (depending on how you take it), Zayn Malik is single! And he’s happy about it! “It’s not been too successful for me, I’ll be honest,” he told Nylon about his dating adventures on Tinder. “Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for?’ I’ve been kicked off once or twice.” But he’s not trying to meet people on apps anymore. He’s not trying to meet anyone, period. “I’m really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life.”
Selena Gomez (2023)

Zayn Malik briefly went on a date with Selena Gomez in 2023. dates back to Saturday March 25, 2023, when an eyewitness tells Entertainment Tonight, “Selena and Zayn went out in SoHo in New York City last night at around 10:30 pm. They walked in holding hands and were kissing. Most restaurant staff and restaurant goers didn’t notice them. It seemed like they were comfortable together and it was clear that it was a date.”
Gigi Hadid (2015 – 2021)

Zayn Malik dated Gigi Hadid from 2015 to 2021. Together, they share one daughter, Khai (born September 2020). She starred in his music video for “Pillow Talk” but kept their on-and-off relationship private throughout the six years.
Hadid and Malik reportedly broke up for good in October 2021 amid claims that Zayn had a physical altercation with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. “They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” a source told People on October 28, 2021. “They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.” News of their breakup came just hours after TMZ first reported that Zayn physically “struck” 57-year-old Yolanda during a recent argument.
Malik pled no contest to the harassment charges following the incident and was fined. Zayn has also been ordered to complete 90 days of probation for each count, for a total of 360 days, along with completing an anger management and a domestic violence course. In addition, the star must maintain no contact with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda, and the security guard who was on staff during the altercation.
The former One Direction member responded to the initial assault claims in a statement to TMZ, denying what he called Yolanda’s “false allegations” against him. “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” he said at the time.
Fans think that Malik wrote the song “Shoot At Will” from his album Room Under The Stairs about his relationship with Hadid and his daughter. One fan wrote via X that the song is “Zayn’s closure in regards to that relationship. We experienced everything that happened the past few years from his pov.” He sings, “Does it not occur to you? / Do you not prefer the truth? / I was in love with you / Though I didn’t show the proof.”
Perrie Edwards (2012 – 2015)

They were a mighty power couple. Zayn Malik dated Perrie Edwards from early 2012 to 2015. The two met on The X Factor when she was a contestant and performing under Little Mix. They became engaged in 2013 but broke it off 2015.
Edwards claimed that Malik broke up with her over text, but Malik has adamantly declined the act. “It was horrible, the worst time in my life,” she wrote in a excerpt from Little Mix’s book, Our World. “A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.”
In his 2024 Nylon interview, he reflected on his young perspective on love. “From 17 to 21, I was in a relationship. I was engaged and [planned to get] married and I didn’t know anything about anything at that point,” he says. “I thought I did, because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn’t know sh*t.”
Stephanie Davis (2011)

Stephanie Davis opened up about her brief relationship with Zayn Malik on Celebrity Big Brother. “He [wasn’t] happy, even when I was going out with him,” she said on the show, per BBC. “I can’t believe he stuck it out for that long.”
“I ended it with him because at the time I was oblivious to that world,” she revealed. “And then I was out with the girls in town and he was calling me, calling me. I changed my number.”
Rebecca Ferguson (2011)

Zayn Malik dated Rebecca Ferguson after meeting on The X Factor tour. After they broke up, Ferguson explained to The Independent why she regretted the relationship. “That was my first mistake. I was 23, he was 18. Of course, if it was a 23-year-old guy dating an 18-year-old girl, no one would have batted an eyelid, but this way around was a big deal, apparently. I didn’t realise that. I was just a hippy, free-loving person, but that’s not a good thing to be in this industry. You can’t just follow your heart.”
Geneva Lane (2010)
Zayn Malik briefly dated Geneva Lane after meeting on The X Factor in 2010. She was in the group Bella Amie, and they had to keep their relationship a secret after Simon Cowell put a dating ban. However, the two became public when cameras caught them kissing. It’s unknown when the two broke up.
When Zayn broke up with Perrie Edwards, Lane posted on Twitter, ‘Lol… Saw that coming. She deserves so much better than to be treated how she has for so long. So many lies and so much deceit. So wrong. She will come out strong.”
