Though she has hinted at a new album in the past few months, CARDI B has now revealed why she won’t be releasing it this year.
The rapper hasn’t released a full-length album since her 2018 successful breakthrough album, Invasion of Privacy, which included hits like Bodak Yellow and I Like It, despite a few singles.
This week on X, formerly Twitter, Cardi, 31, blamed her followers for the time of stagnation in a series of since-deleted tweets.
When the singer appeared on Complex’s 360 With Speedy last month, she hinted at a new album, saying that it would be out later this year.
However, she appeared to retract the statement in a harsh social media exchange with her fans.
A fan’s joke about Cardi’s unfulfilled promises of a new album on Twitter on Tuesday served as the catalyst for the altercation.
“I’m so excited to put out new music,” the rapper was facetiously quoted by user @Tyyrrell.
“I am eager to release my record. Hold on until I finish this song. Album to be released shortly.”
To make it obvious that he was making fun of Cardi’s flimsy attempts to create tension, the fan included an image of two ladies rolling their eyes with his tweet.
